Trunk or Treat Tips and Tricks: Part 2

Hey friends! Welcome back to part 2 of my Trunk or Treat Tips and Tricks series, where I help you ensure your event is a smashing success. Whether you’re hosting or participating, these tips will make your trunk or treat festive, fun, and stress-free.

1. Keep Extra Decorating Supplies on Hand

As the event planner, be ready for last-minute fixes or forgotten supplies by keeping a bucket of essentials nearby. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Scissors: Perfect for cutting fabric, ribbons, or any other decorations.
  • Fishing Line: Strong and invisible, great for hanging lightweight decorations like ghosts or bats.
  • Marvelous Tape: My favorite! It’s car-safe and leaves no sticky residue behind, so it’s perfect for securing decorations to trunks.

2. Have Extra Candy and Non-Edible Handouts

Running out of candy is a nightmare for trunk or treaters, so be sure to have extra buckets of candy ready! If you’re looking for alternatives or allergy-friendly options, stock up on non-edible handouts like:

  • Stickers
  • Small toys
  • Glow sticks
  • Temporary tattoos

These items are always a hit and ensure everyone can enjoy the treats.

3. Encourage Matching Costumes

To really bring the spooky fun, encourage your trunkers to dress up to match their trunk themes. Whether it’s a pirate ship, haunted graveyard, or pumpkin patch, having a costume that complements the decorations will add an extra layer of excitement and creativity.

4. Emphasize the Fun of the Season

Encourage participants to get into the Halloween spirit by adding interactive elements like:

  • Simple games or activities at their trunks (e.g., ring toss or bean bag toss)
  • Music to match the theme (bring a small speaker)
  • Lights and fog machines for extra ambiance
