If you’re looking for a fun, festive DIY project to make your porch extra adorable this season, this giant Little Debbie Christmas Cake might just be your next obsession! It’s creative, inexpensive, and the perfect statement piece for holiday décor. Let me show you how I made it — it’s super easy and such a blast.
Step 1: Drawing & Cutting the Shape
To start, I freehanded the classic Little Debbie Christmas Tree shape onto cardboard. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but feel free to use a reference if you want. Once I had the shape, I traced it onto another piece for the second side. I then cut out three strips of cardboard and made little creases to help the strips curve around the edges, giving the cake its thickness.
Step 2: Shaping & Adding Weight
I used masking tape to secure the cardboard strips around the edges. And of course, what’s a cake without a little bite taken out? I impulsively cut a bite mark on one side for a fun, realistic touch. To keep it stable, I added a small strip of 2×4 wood inside at the bottom to give it weight, so it stands up nicely.
Step 3: Adding Texture with Plaster
Next, I covered the whole thing in quick-drying plaster to give it that realistic cake texture. I ended up using my hands (sometimes, you just have to dive in!) to get an even finish.
Step 4: Decorating the “Icing” and “Stripes”
For the classic red stripes, I filled a piping bag with more plaster and piped it directly onto the cake, smoothing it out with my finger. After it dried, I painted the stripes with red acrylic paint. The look started coming together!
Step 5: Adding “Sprinkles”
For sprinkles, I used some cut-up fake fur pieces. At first, they were too small, so I went back and cut larger ones. I brushed on some Mod Podge to make them stick, and sprinkled them over the top for that festive sprinkle effect.
Step 6: Painting Finishing Details
Using white acrylic paint, I added little shine marks on the “icing” to give it a glossy, fresh-baked look. I also painted the inside to resemble cake layers, leaving a little strip for the cream filling.
The Final Result
And there you have it! This oversized Little Debbie cake is just the cutest — it honestly looks good enough to eat. It’ll be styled on my porch soon, and I can’t wait to see how it looks at night all lit up.

00:00:00 --> 00:00:03
So watch me make just the freaking cutest00:00:03 --> 00:00:06
Christmas decoration for my front porch of all time.00:00:06 --> 00:00:08
Giant little Debbie Christmas cake.00:00:08 --> 00:00:09
It was super easy here.00:00:09 --> 00:00:12
So I did it freehanded it on cardboard.00:00:12 --> 00:00:13
I know it’s not perfect,00:00:13 --> 00:00:15
but then I just trace that to the other side,00:00:15 --> 00:00:17
and then cut out three little strips of cardboard,00:00:17 --> 00:00:19
and I just put little creases all around it.00:00:19 --> 00:00:21
So just act right when I tape it around.00:00:21 --> 00:00:24
And then, like most things I do on pure impulse,00:00:24 --> 00:00:26
I just cut a bite Mark out of this thing. Anyway,00:00:26 --> 00:00:26
put this together,00:00:26 --> 00:00:28
which is straight mask and tape.00:00:28 --> 00:00:29
I did use a00:00:29 --> 00:00:31
little strip of 2 by 4 to put into the bottom00:00:31 --> 00:00:33
so it would weigh it at down00:00:33 --> 00:00:34
so it would just sit up straight.00:00:34 --> 00:00:35
And then I just started00:00:35 --> 00:00:38
covering it in quick drying plaster,00:00:38 --> 00:00:40
um, try to make it have, like,00:00:40 --> 00:00:41
a nice texture.00:00:41 --> 00:00:44
And then I just gave up and went in with my hands,00:00:44 --> 00:00:45
because, you know, hey,00:00:45 --> 00:00:46
do what you got to do.00:00:46 --> 00:00:47
And then I just00:00:47 --> 00:00:49
put more of that plaster into a piping bag00:00:49 --> 00:00:51
and just pipe my stripes on it00:00:51 --> 00:00:52
and smooth those out with my finger.00:00:52 --> 00:00:54
It’s just painted those red with acrylic paint.00:00:54 --> 00:00:55
Then using what I had,00:00:55 --> 00:00:57
just cut up a fake fur and made sprinkles.00:00:57 --> 00:00:58
Made them too small at first00:00:58 --> 00:00:59
and ended up cutting bigger ones.00:00:59 --> 00:01:01
And I just slap Modge Podge on there00:01:01 --> 00:01:02
and just Sprinkle those over the top.00:01:02 --> 00:01:04
Then I took white acrylic paint00:01:04 --> 00:01:05
and put little shine marks on the icing,00:01:05 --> 00:01:08
and then took more acrylic and made inside the cake00:01:08 --> 00:01:10
and little. Left a little strip for the cream.00:01:10 --> 00:01:12
And just look at this beauty.00:01:12 --> 00:01:14
Oh, my gosh. It’s honestly just precious,00:01:14 --> 00:01:15
and I love it.00:01:15 --> 00:01:17
And it looks super cute at night.00:01:17 --> 00:01:19
Um, I still have to style it on my porch, but anyway,00:01:19 --> 00:01:20
follow me for more diys and stuff. Thanks.
